Frequently Asked Questions
Are your classes American Heart Association Certified?
Yes, all our classes are certified by the American Heart Association. We are an AHA Training Site under Virginia Hospital Center and Washington Adventist Hospital Center of Resuscitation Excellence.
Who teaches the classes?
Our instructors are VERY experienced ER and ICU nurses, paramedics, and Doctors who work in the DC metro area. There is a big difference when you learn CPR from someone who has done it HUNDREDS of times.
Where are your classes held?
We now have two main locations in Old Town Alexandria and Tyson's Corner.
Alexandria: We hold classes in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. 1800 Diagonal Road, Alexandria VA 22314 Suite 600. We are right across the street from the King St. metro. Theismann's restaurant is on the ground floor of our building. We are on the 6th floor.
Tyson's Corner: We also hold classes at our location in the Kaiser Permanente Tyson's Corner Medical Center. The address is 8008 Westpark Drive, McLean, VA.
Your Location: We can also come to you and hold any of our classes at your location.
Can you hold classes at my location?
Yes. We can give any of our classes at your facility. We offer group rates which begin at 20% off individual registration prices and go as high as 60% off! Minimum class size is 4.
Is there parking at your training center in Old Town Alexandria?
Yes. There is metered street parking. Depending on the day and time of your class these can be easy to get and are quite often free. There is also parking in the metro lot which is free on Sundays. There is underground pay parking. It is between 7-16$ depending on the day and time you park.
Are you near a Metro?
Are we ever. The King St. Metro is right across the street. We really want our students to use the metro. Its easy, safe, and GREEN! Please use the metro. If you promise to use the metro to attend class we will give you a 5$ discount-just type METRO into the coupon box on checkout.
When will I receive my card?
All cards are now sent out electronically via email. Cards are usually issued within 24 hours of course completion. If you have not received your card feel free to contact us and we will solve the issue.
What is your cancelation policy?
Cancel atleast 5 business days in advance and you will get an immediate full refund. If you cancel within 5 days of your class you can roll your registration over to any of our upcoming classes. However, you cannot have a refund. Our specific refund policy can be found while registering. We understand our classes are not inexpensive and we also know things happens so we ALWAYS work with you to come up with a resolution that is agreeable to both parties.
That's not a very business like refund policy. What does it it mean?
Basically it means we here at The Heart Center are pushovers, and if you tell us a good story you will probably get most, if not all, your money back.
How do I take a class online?
Students have two options for taking all AHA classes. Online followed by an in-person Skills Check or a traditional classroom course.
If you take the class online you will be directed to the AHA website to complete the online class. You will then need to register for the in-person skills check.
We always recommend students take the course via a traditional in-person class in order to maximize their learning and experience.
What is the difference between online and In-Person courses?
The cost and time involved to complete either are very similar. The cost of an traditional classroom course vs and Online class are within a couple dollars of each other and the class length is also the same. The online classes are not shorter or easier. You just take part at home.
In our opinion the classroom courses are always the best option to maximize your learning experience. You will get lots of hands on practice, you get to touch and use all the equipment, you get an experienced instructor and other students to interact with.
